This game was not nearly as close as the score indicates. The Owls had a 27-0 lead in the fourth quarter thanks to two touchdown passes from quarterback Tobin Rote and a touchdown run from Billy Burkhalter. North Carolina scored a couple of touchdowns late to close the gap. Owl receiver Froggy Williams, one of two all-Americans on the team, caught four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
