| summary: | Roberts received his law degree from Harvard Law School, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review. He has served as special assistant to the attorney general for the U.S. Department of Justice, as associate counsel to President Ronald Reagan and as principal deputy solicitor general for the U.S. Department of Justice. Roberts was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 2003. President George W. Bush nominated him as Chief Justice, and Roberts took his seat on the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005. |
